The Hazewinkel Family, Photographed in Downtown Edmond, Oklahoma
I seriously have so much fun with this family every single year when we do their family photo session! I am sure you will be able to tell by the pictures that they are all a good time! We wandered around downtown Edmond, OK, found some great little backgrounds, and captured their smiles and laughs (and the good serious faces they served up as well). I even jumped in a photo at the end! After all, the Hazewinkels are basically like family to me!
The Anderson Family, Photographed at Their Home in Edmond, OK
My dear friend Katherine scheduled her family portraits for early last November, but the weather decided not to cooperate with us that morning. It was rainy all morning, so we started inside and then moved outside to try to grab some photos during a break in the rain. We did get some photos that morning, but ultimately Katherine decided she wanted to try again another day to get more photos. I always want my client friends to love their photos, so I was happy to shoot again on another, sunnier day. This time, we kept it short and sweet and got some beautiful images. These I am sharing here are a mix of pictures from both sessions.
The Peters Family Portraits, Downtown OKC
Jeff and Shauna Peters got married on New Years Eve, so for their family portrait session last fall, they wanted to do a New Years Eve theme in honor of their ten year anniversary. The photos turned out so cute!! It was such a fun session. And even cooler that the props they brought were things they had saved from their wedding! I loved everything about all of this. How special that their kids got to pop confetti saved from their wedding day! We even recreated some photos of Jeff and Shauna similar to ones they had done at their wedding.
Also, my birthday is on New Years Eve, so I guess it makes sense that I loved this session so much! :)
The Sutton Family Portraits
I photographed the Sutton family last fall here at the Oklahoma State Capitol. I work with Jason (the father) at the Capitol. He has worked here for many years, so it was fun and meaningful using this grand space as a backdrop for their family portrait session.
Photographing families with teenagers can bring it’s own set of challenges, whether that looks like teens who hate having their photos taken, or teens who are just in those awkward stages of life, learning to live in their changing bodies. It is my job as the photographer to try to put people at ease - and remember, children and teenagers are people, too! The Sutton teens were all pretty chill and easy to photograph. We had a good time posing throughout the interior of the Capitol, but I think my very favorite images were the ones taken outside that day.
Quade & Avery Engagement Portraits
I met Avery at work (we both work at the Oklahoma State Capitol) and was immediately drawn to her droll sense of humor and genuine cool girl personality. After getting engaged, Avery asked me about shooting her engagement and wedding photos. We talked through some ideas and she shared her Pinterest inspo board with me. After listening to what type of shoot and photos Avery and Quade were wanting, I was very excited to photograph their engagement session. We decided on shooting by Lake Hefner, and it brought the perfect vibes for what we were going for in the photos.
I, along with every photographer in the OKC area, have shot photos around Lake Hefner many times, but I wanted to find at least one “new” spot to shoot with Avery and Quade. So I arrived a little early and scouted around. This first set of photos is the spot I had never shot at before, and then we moved on to a couple different areas where I have shot before for other sessions. The weather was warm but nice, not too windy - wind can certainly be a problem here in Oklahoma sometimes. We had just a bot of a breeze, enough to give Avery a little bit of supermodel windblown hair and to keep us from sweltering during the photo shoot.
Something about the lake and the sailboats and the warm sunlight and the classic outfits worn by Avery and Quade gave this whole session a quiet luxury, east coast vibe. I really enjoyed the whole thing and I love how the photos turned out! Quade and Avery were also very happy with the session, which of course is what really matters!
I am looking forward to their wedding next year!
Emma - Senior Portraits
Emma is a cool girl who I have known since she was born. She is all grown up and just graduated from high school in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. She loves downtown Fort Worth, and she picked the coolest locations for her senior photo shoot, mostly right around Sundance Square. We grabbed an iced matcha and then had fun taking a million pics!
